Professional History: Mr. Sands began his legal career representing insurance companies and defendants in personal injury cases. The law firm he started in 1968, Sands, Smallbein, Eubank, Johnson, Bussey, Rozier & Company, P.A., eventually became one of the larger insurance defense firms in the Central Florida area. In 1976, Mr. Sands left defense practice and started a plaintiff's personal injury firm, now called Sands White & Sands, P.A., in Daytona Beach. Over the years, the firm has become particularly well known for handling complicated medical negligence cases. Mr. Sands has obtained many settlements and jury awards in excess of a million dollars, including the single largest jury award in Volusia County history. Larry Sands retired from the active practice of law in 2010.

He has taught an adult Sunday school class at DeLand's First Presbyterian Church for over thirty years, and has been recognized for his work in the community by numerous governmental, civic and charitable agencies.
